This policy explains how HoneyRoot Collective ('“we,” “us,” “our”) collects and uses your information when you visit www.honeyroot-collective.com (the “Site”), join our waitlist, or become a member. For any privacy questions, or to act on your rights, email honeyrootcollective@gmail.com.
For members in the European Union and United Kingdom, HoneyRoot Collective is the data controller for the information described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us:
Your name and email when you join our waitlist or newsletter.
Account and billing details when you become a member (payment is processed by our payment provider, and we do not store full card numbers).
Content you post in the community, and anything you share with us by email or form.
Information collected automatically:
Basic technical data such as your browser, device, approximate location, and the pages you view, gathered through standard analytics and cookies.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Run your membership and give you access to community material.
Add you to our lit and send the updates you signed up for.
Process payments and manage renewals, pauses, and cancellations.
Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it.
Keep records and meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Legal bases (EU and UK members)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to run your membership); your consent (for marketing emails); our legitimate interests (to operate and improve the community); and legal obligation (to keep required records). You can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Third-party services
We use trusted providers to run the Site and community, each under its own privacy terms. Depending on the service, these may include Squarespace (hosting and forms), [our email platform], [our community or membership platform], and [our payment processor]. We share your information with them only as needed to provide the service, and we may disclose it if the law requires.
5. International data transfers
We operate from the United States, so if you join from outside the US your information is transferred to and processed in the US. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect that transfer. By joining, you understand your information will be handled in the US under this policy and applicable safeguards.
6. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses cookies to work properly and to measure traffic. You can control or turn off cookies in your browser, and where required we will ask for your consent to non-essential cookies.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your membership is active or as long as we need it for the purposes above and to meet legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in portable form, opt out of any sale or targeted advertising, and appeal a decision we make about your request.
- Oregon residents have these rights under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to a list of the specific third parties we have shared information with, and the right to appeal.
- Massachusetts residents are protected by state law governing how personal information is safeguarded.
- EU and UK members also have the rights to restrict or object to processing and to withdraw consent, and may complain to their local data protection authority.
To exercise any right, email honeyrootcollective@gmail.com. We will confirm and respond within the time the law allows, and if we deny a request you may appeal by replying to our response.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including safeguards for personal information of Massachusetts residents as required by state law. No online system is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Site is for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
